In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree...
Xanadu, I bet you are wondering why would I start out with this quote. Well the last couple of days I have been wanting to watch this silly movie from the 80's.
This had to be one of my all time favorite movies as a kid. You might ask why. The acting is not very good accept for the great Gene Kelly, who I love. The clothes and hair are ridiculous, the special effects are cheesy, and the concept as a whole is well... silly. But to me, I love silly.
I love the fantasy of it all, mixing the old and the new. Like I said I love Gene Kelly and I love Olivia Newton John. I love the music, and how every thing comes together at the end and by the end of the movie it is just a great happy ending. I always felt happy and gitty after watching it. I saw it 11 times in the theater as a kid, and now as an adult it takes me back to that time and that fun happy feeling I had leaving the theater and wanting to hold on to that feeling.
That is why I went back time after time. Even though it wasn't the greatest movie out there it made me happy and even for just a few hours I wanted to be part of this fantasy.
So if you have never seen Xanadu give it a try. Just remember it came out in 1980 so it's not the greatest film whys but don't worry about that just sit back kick your feet up enjoy the music and have fun.
